Ruth Barber Clayton

- Savannah - Ruth Barber Clayton, 75, died December 15, 2009 at Candler Hospital. She was born in Savannah, daughter of the late Harvey Franklin Barber and Helen Thomas Barber. Mrs. Clayton was a member of the Christian Women's Club, the Savannah Symphony Choral, the Moon River Chorus and the Bell Choir at River's Edge Retirement Community. She also sang with the Ladies Trio at the Youth for Christ Rally's, the choir at Independent Presbyterian Church and Calvary Baptist Temple. She was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Her husband, Bobby Lee Clayton, Sr. preceded her in death.

Surviving are her children, Cathy C. Mayers and her husband, Gary A. Mayers of Savannah; Candice C. McCarthy of Richmond Hill; Bobby Lee Clayton, Jr. of Savannah; Cindy C. Prescott of Bloomingdale; sister, Mary Reese of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Amy Douglas Rath of Fairbanks, AK; Jeremy Daniel Douglas and his wife, Deanna of Savannah; Melany Lauren Mayers of Savannah; Charles Harold "Hal" McCarthy of Richmond Hill; Emily Anne Prescott of Bloomingdale; Katie Marie Prescott of Bloomingdale; great grandchildren, Jaiden and Wyatt Rath; Lexy and Jeremy Douglas

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2009 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors.

Burial: Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
